Documentary newborn session // Washington DC family photographer

Lifestyle newborn sessions are the way to my heart. While cute props and poses of tiny little babies are definitely so beautiful, for me it always seemed to miss something. As a  parent myself looking back at my children baby pictures the ones that I like the most are the ones that trigger an emotion. That tender emotion that brings me back to that day and makes me feel their tiny little hands holding my finger. Those are the unposed photos,  just photos of exactly how they were, photos of real moments, photos of intimacy.  Although I’ve always included these kinds of shots in all of my previous sessions, now I can say that for newborn sessions, lifestyle (or documentary) is my new approach for newborn sessions.

The Martins’ session was everything I was hoping for. Really cool and fun parents  who’s love for their kids was shinning through every corner of their house. Little Elise Marie slept for most of the time while her big brothers cuddled with her in between their chess games and break time with warm cinnamon rolls. I couldn’t be happier with how I was able to capture and preserve those moments of intimacy of Martin family on a Saturday morning. A few hours of a lovely Saturday morning….
